  What is a WORD  SORT A word sort is an individual or small group activity in which students sort words by linking to their prior knowledge. The sorts advance student knowledge, are active and fun, are an analytical and implicit approach to learning, are beneficial to ELL students, as well as being supported by research. Words Sorts benefit all students and can be used across the curriculum for a variety of topics.  Types of WORD  SORTS There are two basic types of word sorts, Open Sorts and Closed Sorts .  👉 Open Sorts: The teacher provides only the (list of) words.  Students work together to determine commonalities and describe the categories.   WHAT ARE SENTENCE FRAMES & WHY SHOULD I BE USING THEM? WHAT ARE SENTENCE FRAMES? Strictly speaking, a sentence frame is a way to scaffold, for all students, by providing a framework for a sentence and omitting words (at your discretion and the specific needs of the student). The student them repeats the frame, filling in the omissions to speak or write complete a sentence. Sentence Frames are structured, teacher created ,scaffolded tools to build student confidence in speaking, writing, and comprehension.  Sentence Frames are starters, cues, and/or signal words that help students be successful.   Why Use PowerPoint Presentations  for Lesson Plans? I can hear you now, "You really expect me to add yet another new way of doing something as simple as lessons and lesson plans?" . I've been where you are. When creating new lessons or teaching previously taught concepts, I  was always hunting down all the materials, resources, rubrics, center activities, etc..
