WHAT ARE SENTENCE FRAMES?
Strictly speaking, a sentence frame is a way to scaffold, for all students, by providing a framework for a sentence and omitting words (at your discretion and the specific needs of the student). The student them repeats the frame, filling in the omissions to speak or write complete a sentence.
Sentence Frames are structured, teacher created ,scaffolded tools to build student confidence in speaking, writing, and comprehension.
Sentence Frames are starters, cues, and/or signal words that help students be successful.
Sentence Frames give structure to use help students use vocabulary in a way that may be at a higher level than is typical for them.
